Tammy Faye Bakker is known to most of us. She was part of a huge evangelical movement before it all collapsed around her in a scandal of sex and fraud. Her personal website revealed Saturday morning that she had died after a long battle with cancer. She was 65. Larry King was a close friend of Tammy Faye’s and he had the last interview with her on Wednesday where she told him that she wasn’t afraid to die. Her firm belief in God carried her through the end and Larry King was quoted saying that she died peacefully. Her former husband Jim Bakker had positive things to say about her. It’s always unfortunate when these stories are headlines but it’s sadly unavoidable. With the state of the world these days I’m sure the lucky are the ones who are no longer here.
