Sacha Baron Cohen thinks British Prime Minister Gordon Brown could do with a dust and polish.

Cohen, aka Bruno, said: “The guy needs a total makeover. He needs a fake tan, he needs to wear some tight slacks … Gordon, click those heels and say hello.”

Bruno’s advice came as the character of Cohen’s latest film shook up London on Wednesday night. The film premiered amid a fanfare of camp farce led by Cohen as Bruno in PVC hot pants and a troupe of marching men.

Bruno, a gay Austrian fashionista, has latte-coloured legs that are waxed free of hair, in contrast to his previous movie character Borat, who was covered in dark hair.

Cohen even lampooned Borat, saying: “I mean I saw that film Borat, by that guy Sacha Baron Co-ven [sic]. I found that a very offensive portrayal of a foreigner. Total stereotype.”

Bruno also had no time for gays who take themselves too seriously. He vowed to undo the damage of Milk, a movie starring Sean Penn about a San Francisco mayor who championed homosexual rights in the 1970s.

“I mean, what I’m trying to do tonight is undo all the badness done by that film Milk, which has really set the gay community back 20 years with that terrible stereotype,” Bruno said.
