Austrian ambassador reportedly demands people boycott Sacha Baron Cohen’s new film Bruno
An Austrian ambassador is said to have urged people to boycott Sacha Baron Cohen’s new film Bruno.
Emil Brix, who was recently appointed Austria’s top British envoy, has said the star’s gags about his country are “cheap”.
In the past Cohen’s character Bruno, who is the star of the movie of the same name, has joked about sex monster Josef Fritzl and has said it is the “Austrian dream” to “have a job, find a dungeon and raise a family there”.
However, Brix has said: “It’s totally inappropriate. Everybody should speak up against that.”
He hoped that many Austrians will snub the film and he added: “The public will know how to react to this film.”
