Drew Carey could bid $100,000 for @drew Twitter name
Cancer sufferer Drew Olanoff is opening the bidding for his Twitter handle at $10,000 to raise money for the Livestrong Foundation.
Celebrity Drew Carey will bid for the “@drew” handle, announcing he would put up $25,000 from his “DrewfromTV” Twitter account.
Carey then told Olanoff in an e-mail he would up the amount to $100,000 if the number of his followers reached 100,000 by the end of the auction on November 9, which is Olanoff’s birthday.
Carey’s followers increased from 13,000 to more than 17,000 within hours of the announcement.
Drew Barrymore is rumoured to be another potential bidder, though she is said not to be a user of Twitter. Olanoff said: “I don’t think she uses Twitter. She should! Why not start with the best Twitter name you could possibly have?”
