Carey Mulligan’s mum didn’t take call about Oscar news
Oscar-nominated actress Carey Mulligan has revealed her mum didn’t take her call when she phoned to tell her news of her nomination.
The 24-year-old has been nominated for the Best Actress gong at the ceremony on March 7 and is up against actresses such as Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock.
She revealed that when she got the news she phoned her mum Nano, who is a college lecturer, but told her she was too busy and to call back later.
She said: “I phoned up and said: ‘Mum, mum, mum, I got nominated for an Oscar.’ And she said: ‘Oh fabulous, I’m just with a student, can you call me back in 45 minutes?’”
