As part of the American Idol ‘Idol Gives Back’ charity initiative, new US Postal Stamps are being released to help raise money. The special edition stamps will features the past six winners of the contest and will also feature this year’s winner. They will go on sale as part of a limited edition set with 100,000 20-stamp sheets for each Idol winner and will be sold through Stamps.com. Come May 12th, regular first class stamps will cost .42 cents each so each sheet would cost $8.40. But since they are for a good cause, the sheets will cost $19.99. Kelly Clarkson’s stamps are already on sale with each sheet containing 4 images. The other 5 winners’ stamps will be released over the next couple of weeks.

Life & Style is reporting that Britney Spears got so moved by the storied told on ‘Idol Gives Back’ on Wednesday that the recovering starlet actually donated $25,000 to the cause. A Spears family insider backs up the story saying “She did it all on her own. She watched the show and cried for like two hours over the children in Africa with malaria. She didn’t know much about the disease, so she Googled it. She was horrified to realize kids were dying from mosquito bites. So she went online and donated after getting [her dad] Jamie’s permission. She used her Amex.” Go Britney!

Will Smith is to host a concert celebrating Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday this summer.

The Hollywood actor and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith have agreed to front the star-studded event in London’s Hyde Park on June 27 after being asked by the iconic former South African leader. As well as recognising the landmark date, the event will raise money for 46664, Mandela’s AIDS charity.

A source said, ‘Will Smith is a big fan of Nelson and wanted to help out. Nelson is so inspirational and so many artists want to be involved. Razorlight, Keane, Queen and Annie Lennox are definites. U2, the Spice Girls and Sir Paul McCartney could join them and Eminem’s up for it too. We think it will be Nelson Mandela’s last international public appearance, which will make it even more special.’

Should Eminem agree to perform it would be his first major concert appearance since his self-imposed retirement in 2005.

The event will be attended by 45,000 music fans, and special guests will include Britain’s Princes William and Harry, former US President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary, who is currently running to become the next President.

The first 46664 concert was held in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2003. There have since been events in Norway and Spain. The significance of 46664 is that it was Mandela’s inmate number during his imprisonment in apartheid South Africa from 1964 until 1990.

Nevermind the fact that he’s hot - David Beckham has a heart of gold as well.

While in Shanghai, China, Beck visited the Xinhua hospital to spend some time with the pediatric leukemia patients. He talked with and held the children while there.

Besides visiting patients, he also serves as the UN Children’s Fund goodwill ambassador and travels to underprivileged nations to help children.

Daniel Day-Lewis won the Screen Actors Guild award for outstanding male actor in There Will Be Blood. While accepting the award, he paid tribute to Heath Ledger.

He said that Heath was “an inspiration” and “unique”. Daniel said, “Of course, in Brokeback Mountain he was unique. He was perfect. And that scene in the trailer at the end of the film was as moving as anything I’ve ever seen.”

Later, he was asked why he chose to dedicate his award to Heath. Daniel’s response was, “I suppose that’s all I’ve been thinking about for the last few days. I never met him. I thought he was beautiful. I just have a very strong feeling that I would have liked him very much as a man…I admired him very much.”

Actor Vince Vaughn has slammed aspiring actors who enter the profession just to find fame. The Wedding Crashers star believes youngsters in Hollywood no longer care about acting skills, as their only desire is to become a celebrity. I admit to being a shameless celebrity-hound, even going so far as to hotel-hop in the hopes of sighting my favorite celebs (see my link below), but I agree with Vaughan on this one. There are too many actors in Hollywood today who are utterly devoid of talent and seek only adulation. I won’t name any, but we all know who they are . . .Just for instance look at Paris Hilton, first she says she is going to Rwanda for aid and charity work only to postpone it and of course she is not going to miss the new years’ eve bash at the Lax or where ever she wants to party and the same goes for innumerable celebrities. They just will do and say anything to hog the limelight.

Rocker Jon Bon Jovi turned his back on drugs, after some bad experiences early in his career. Despite the strong connection between rock and narcotics, Bon Jovi insists he has remained clean for decades, and has never been tempted to try drugs again. I love u and your music and have everyone of his album and he is my wallpaper on my phone and computer and I have a huge poster of him on my wall in my room. Ok that says enough that I am a huge fan of his and if anyone can get this message across to him and tell him that I want to meet him and have a date with him, which will be so cool. About saying no to drugs that the coolest thing any rocker would have ever done, saying no to a temptation that’s around you all the time requires huge guts and an even better head. That’s what makes a few rockers attractive to nice girls who still think that the world should be drugs free; I think his wife should be extra careful as girls like me would be itching to pounce on this smart ass.

Former Mexican soap star turned pop star and entrepreneur Thalia, along with her husband, music mogul Tommy Mottola, welcomed their first child on Sunday. They are now proud parents of a bouncing baby girl they named Sabrina. She weighed in at 8 pounds and 4 ounces. Thalia was said to be in labor for about 20 hours! Wow! Mom and baby are now resting comfortably.

I wonder if Sabrina would turn out like her mama. Let’s hope she inherits all the talent and all that beauty her mom has. And of course, all the money her papa has. Lucky girl.

Last week she said that there are not enough good roles in Hollywood for the women above the age of 40, so what does she think that the name change would change her fortunes in Hollywood and land her a grandma’s role in Harry Potter or something why does she except that all those cosmetic changes have damages her skin and looks way too much and she isn’t looking good at all these days. Even grandmas have to look beautiful in our beauty crazy world of today.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has banned California teenagers from driving while chatting on cellphones. The actor-turned-Governor has made California the first U.S. state to implement the new law. He signed a bill that makes it illegal for anyone under 18 to use a cellphone while driving. I am in support of this ban by the governor because it would help save the lives of many teenagers who often don’t realize the deadly enormity of their nonchalant attitudes to life. Arnold should also start getting ready to muscle his way to White House in 2012. He may be the knight in shinning armor who would save America. So far, he is doing great in California as governor. More success to him. This is a proof of an elect person who thinks for the society and for the parents whose kids just won’t listen to them, put a state wide ban so at least the parents know that the kids would have to adhere to the law.

There exists something we all call self medication but these celebrities like to go the rehabs these days to show that they want to get clean. You don’t wake up one fine morning and say ‘you know what, I think I’ll go do drugs and embarrass myself coz no one’s writing and talking about me despite my life being so happening, wonderful and so perfect. I think the point of Jodie’s comments were that a lot of the trouble and problems that Lindsay originally got into were a direct result of her parents not putting ANY boundaries on her. She was allowed to sleep with men 3x her age, party at all hours of the night, even allowed to drink - all at the age of 14+. Any mother (or father for that matter), who would allow their child that kind of leniency is an idiot. Especially to then come out and say it’s not their fault. It dam sure is your fault! Try some discipline; try NOT partying with your kids and setting a mature and decent example. Lindsay’s behavior is exactly what she learned growing up.

Jodie Foster takes a direct stab at Dina Lohan’s parenting skills by asking the blunt question “where is her mother?” But you’ve got to give it to Jodie, while it’s really not her business, she’s totally right. But isn’t there something that tell you that Hollywood is finally taking a stand and commenting on its troubled members and co-stars. Well there’s already a anti-Paris Hilton group out there and the members are growing by the day and please don’t ask me to name them coz forgotten the count. And now Lindsay is being targeted by Hollywood for her bad behavior and other problems that Lindsay keep getting herself into. It’s totally true and it’s funny because Lindsay Lohan thinks she is the most famous person in Hollywood. If she didn’t have all these troubles, no one would care about her. It’s her troubles that keep her famous. And it’s a planned thing by Lohan to stay in the news she has do keep doing something worth reporting and henceforth remain a celebrity. So what will happen to her after rehab? Hopefully she’ll go away and realize how obnoxious she is.

My Spidey sense tells me that Tobey Maguire’s marital status has changed. A bet ya guys and gals out there that it has changed and our spider man is now married to his long time girl friend and the mother of his daughter Jennifer Meyers. The 32-year-old actor and longtime girlfriend Jennifer Meyers have tied the knot in Kona on Hawaii’s Big Island. The low-key couple, who have been an item since 2003, subsequently welcomed daughter Ruby in November. Though after his daughter’s birth, Mr. Maguire had been in the news for promoting his then to be released third installment of the Spiderman movie series and how much he loved the arrival of his daughter in their lives but never was there a word about the impending marriage to Jennifer. And now all of a sudden there is this news that the two are married and both are very happy for each other. That’s so cool, like the family is complete and they are together.

According to concert-goers present at Hot 99.5’s Lil Black Dress Party at the Clarendon Ballroom in Arlington, Virginia, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are happily engaged.

After a 40-minute performance of Good Charlotte, front man Joel walked off the stage which then prompted DJ Kane to announce that he got engaged and gave a big congrats to the couple. Kane told People magazine that they found out about the engagement the morning of the event and that after he congratulated Joel, he was given a ‘thank you so much’ in reply.

It’s not that big of a surprise though as talk show host Regis Philbin leaked the new on-air on Thursday.

The Spice Girls just unveiled their cover art for their 2007 Greatest Hits Album. Sparkly!

The girls had something to say about it on their official website where they do most of their announcements perhaps to avoid any photographed cat fights and evil eyes towards each other.

In their statement, they expressed their excitement for the reveal of the cover and said that they were all involved with the design (really?) and are pleased with it. They also said that they are working on the album and have started planning for the tour.

They also gave a big Girl Power hug to Baby Spice who just had a baby boy.

This is sort of funny. This is Matt Damon on the PBS cartoon Arthur. Damon, who has a little daughter, is on the show promoting a feature on the PBS website where kids can send in videos of themselves and PBS will air them. I never watched this show when I was little, but celebrities weren’t do guest appearances on it either. Watch a rip off. If any celebrities ever make any appearances on Eureka’s Castle, let me know. Hey like this is the cool thing I’d like Hollywood celebs to do more often, it’s not just about be cooling with the young kids so that they like watching your movies. It’s more to do with having fun with the kids and being a good role model for them, in the process teaching them the good values that life should be lived with and fill their lives with some happiness. With his movie The Broune doing well at the box office there is enough reason for Matt to sports a smile and share good time on the Animation series.

Oscar award winner Clint Eastwood has become a sought after composer. He has recently been recruited to write the score for an upcoming film. He was approached by Harvey Weinstein to compose the music for John Cusack’s upcoming drama “Grace is Gone”. He had already had one score written by Max Richter which he scrapped. Weinstein believes that Eastwood has a good understanding of the right music that can impact the emotion and meaning of a film. Eastwood has been known to compose music for film in the past but only for those that he’d produced himself. There is a generation that has grown up with Eastwood and followed his career over time. There should be many people who are interested in what he can bring to film with music. After acting for so many years there comes a time to change and grow and he seems to be doing that quite smoothly for someone who has been in the business for so many years.

Fans of the hit television show “Sex and the City” will be overjoyed to learn that the sexy actor who played Mr. Big will be returning for the film adaptation. Sarah Jessica Parker’s character Carrie Bradshaw was back and forth with Mr. Big since the beginning of the series. He was a huge fan favourite and is confirmed to return to the big screen along side the rest of the ladies. Actor Chris Noth has assured film director Michael Patrick King that he is ready and willing to reprise his role as Big. Noth is currently starring in “Law and Order: Criminal Intent” as Detective Mike Logan. A show is never the same when characters have to be replaced with new actors or written out completely. As a fan of the show I am impressed with the willingness of the actors to be involved in the movie version. Movie versions aren’t guaranteed successes and it’s always a risk but fans have been waiting two years for this already. It’s sure to be a smash.

Oscar winner Sean Penn has dismissed criticism actors shouldn’t get involved in humanitarian issues, insisting it’s more honorable than promoting a movie. The 46-year-old, who has regularly criticized the policies of U.S. President George W. Bush, admits airing his sometimes controversial political views does cause problems. We all love talking about movies and movies stars, in addition we all have our opinions on how the country should be run and the problems we face. But only few have it in them to come forward and make a difference to our world. So goes out of the way and says something against the US administration he surely must be knowing a few ground realities that we haven’t come to know about the government. Politics is frankly as dirty as Hollywood itself and both vie to be in the news for reasons well known, Sean if you can make even a small difference in the lives of the needy then you would have achieved more than an Oscar Award.

A lawyer for Chris Rock said Monday that a court-ordered DNA test proved Rock is not the father of a 13-year-old boy whose mother tried to sue the comedian for support earlier this year.

Rock’s attorney, John Mayoue of Atlanta, said a Bulloch County judge sent results of the paternity test to lawyers on both sides of the case.

“The results of the test are that Chris Rock is not the father of this child,” Mayoue said. “It is conclusive.”

The mother, however, disputed the test results.

Kali Bowyer, who lives in Bulloch County west of Savannah, tried in March to file a paternity lawsuit against Rock seeking child support and medical coverage for her son, Jordan. She withdrew the lawsuit after court officials told her it was outside the southeast Georgia county’s jurisdiction because Rock is a New Jersey resident.

However, Rock asked the Georgia court in April to start paternity proceedings to resolve the case. Bulloch County Superior Court Judge John R. Turner ordered DNA testing on Rock and the boy June 8.

Rock and his wife, Malaak, said in a statement Monday they were happy to put the case to rest. They accused Bowyer of telling “multiple lies” to sell her story to tabloids.

“We also express our deepest prayers for the welfare of Ms. Bowyer’s son who has continually been embarrassed and exposed in the media by his mother,” Rock’s statement said.

Bowyer said Monday she had never received money for her story and she believed Rock had violated a confidentiality agreement by making the paternity test results public.

“I could’ve sworn we weren’t supposed to talk about it until we were done with mediation,” Bowyer said.

She said she planned to ask the judge to order another DNA test to challenge the results of the one that ruled out Rock as her child’s father.

Bowyer, 35, said she met Rock at a Los Angeles nightclub when she was living in California 13 years ago.

She denied making any money from the case despite offers of thousands of dollars from television shows and tabloid magazines.

“I am sick and tired of being made out to be a liar and a fraud,” she said.

Rock recently directed and starred in the film “I Think I Love My Wife,” and is behind the hit television series “Everybody Hates Chris,” which is based on his childhood. He and his wife have been married for 10 years and have two young children.

Hilary Duff seems to be one of the last celebrities that are still on a good path. She has her head on straight and isn’t wasting time with drunken scandals. She recently performed in Edmonton, Canada where she took the time out to volunteer at the local Hope Mission. She helped to serve food to the homeless and the needy. Hilary said that it was a priority and that she wanted to lend a hand. This seems to have other people mocking her for her big heart and good girl ways, which I really don’t understand. Anyone with a daughter would choose her as a role model over Hilton, Lohan and Richie. Hilary Duff isn’t a stranger to the things we all go through regularly; she just makes better choices on how she wants to deal with them. That is something that all of the rest of those young divas need to learn. People had speculated on whether or not Duff would be able to remain a good girl upon turning 18. She has successfully proven all of the critics and doubters wrong.

One of the socialite’s charged with DUI has actually proved herself to be mature after all. Nicole Richie has spoken about her assigned jail time coming up before September. She believes it’s a blessing in disguise. She knows she could have killed somebody the night she was arrested driving the wrong way down the road. She’s thankful and feels blessed that it never came to that. Nicole is 4 months pregnant and the fact that she is now carrying a life has probably helped her to put her life into perspective. She refuses to try and take the easy way out or cry all the way to prison like Hilton did. Instead she will be ready to accept her punishment because she knows how much worse it could have gotten. It’s actually reassuring to see one of these DUI divas stand up and admit that she was wrong. It would be nice if Lindsay Lohan learned something from Nicole. She will be the one that does kill someone if somebody doesn’t stop her. Kudos to Richie for being strong enough to change.

One of the latest reality show rumors is that VH1 will be putting together a new show called “Celebrity Rehab”. This one sounds like a classic. There has been no official information released regarding the show or who will be on it but there is certainly plenty of speculation floating around. A few of the stars they have narrowed it down to be former wrestler Chyna, Tom Sizemore, porn star Mary Carey and Brigitte Nielson. A few more are expected that are not named on the current list. Reality TV has clearly reached an all time low when they are exploiting stars who can’t keep it together. I’m not really surprised there are no big A-list names on the show. If Promises couldn’t help Lindsay Lohan then it’s unlikely that VH1 will be able to either. The sad thing about this show is that I can see a lot of people tuning in to see some fallen stars struggling to stay sober.

I’m sure this is nothing shocking considering that both Hilton and Richie are up their ears in trouble and drama. The Insider reported that the E! network has dropped “The Simple Life” from their line up. Many people have tuned in over the last five seasons to see the two socialites making lame attempts at actual work. It may have been amusing the first time around but it ceased to be entertaining after that. It’s nothing short of amazing that it stayed on the air as long as it did anyway. Fox dropped the show in 2005 which sparked rumors of the end. As well Richie and Hilton were then feuding amongst themselves. Now that Richie is reported to be expecting her rocker boyfriend’s baby and Hilton has been recently jailed, filming has been constantly disrupted. I doubt that anyone would really miss the show anyway.

Johnny Depp is moving closer to bringing Hunter S. Thompson’s autobiographical novel “The Rum Diary” to the big screen, seven years after the project was first announced.

Oscar-winning producer Graham King, the Oscar-winning producer of “The Departed,” has acquired all rights to the property, which King would produce with Depp for Warner Independent Pictures.

A spokesperson for King’s GK Films banner said it was hoped that production would begin shortly after principal photography is completed on Depp’s next film, Mira Nair’s crime drama “Shantaram.” No shooting dates have been set for either film.

Loosely based on the late author’s experience working as a freelance journalist in Puerto Rico in the late ’50s, the book was written in 1959 but not published until 1998. Depp would play a reporter who works alongside a motley crew of self-destructive staffers at a struggling San Juan newspaper, where an erotic love triangle emerges.

Bruce Robinson, whose 1987 comedy “Withnail & I” gained a cult following, is writing the screenplay and directing.

Depp previously played Thompson’s alter ego in Terry Gilliam’s 1996 adaptation of the author’s book “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” for Universal Pictures.

Many plans to make “Rum Diary” have been announced over the years. The now-defunct indie production outfit Shooting Gallery and SPi Films optioned the book and announced plans to make the film in 2000, with Depp set to star and executive produce and Nick Nolte co-starring. A new producer came on board in 2002, and Benicio Del Toro and Josh Hartnett were soon attached as cast members.

Del Toro reportedly was set to make his directorial debut with “Rum Diary” in late 2003, but the project remained dormant through Thompson’s February 2005 suicide. According to their reps, Del Toro, Nolte and Hartnett are no longer attached to the project.

Matt Damon was recently the receiver of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He also recently spoke to the press about fellow actor Lindsay Lohan. He commented on Lohan saying that he believes she will bounce back because “she is very talented”. Lohan was arrested Tuesday morning on a second DUI charge. He does go on to add something more intelligent. He mentions how hard it must be for someone with an addiction trapped on the inside. It’s anyone’s guess why Damon has so much to say about Lindsay. As far as I know they aren’t especially close but I could be wrong about that. Either way the bottom line is that he’s trying to appear supportive when really we all know she’s a spoiled little brat that needs a driver and a limit on her spending. What happened to the days when stars always travelled by limo? It would sure eliminate the DUI charges.

What crap has got to her head that she is speaking such utter non-sense. British pop star Natasha Bedingfield blames Los Angeles’ poor public transport system for celebrities’ drunken driving woes. The singer spoke out on Tuesday just hours after Lindsay Lohan was arrested for drunk driving and drug possession after a car chase in Santa Monica - and two months after the actress was involved in a drunken car crash in L.A. Which transport system tells u to first get fully drunken and then run the cars on the roads of any city you live in. This is the most stupid thing I have ever heard. Which transport or police dept. tells u it’s a rule to have drugs in the car before you set out on a drive? Tell me which transport would these Hollywood celebs chose to move around. They can easily hire drivers to help escort them in every city they are in.
