Gossip Girl star Matthew Settle has said it’s ‘tough’ not seeing his daughter every day following his marriage split.

The 40-year-old announced his separation from wife Naama Nativ last month after four years of marriage. The couple are parents to one-year-old daughter Aven.

Settle admitted that he is ’settling’ into single fatherhood but said he is missing his little girl.

Talking about Aven’s recent first birthday, he said to In Touch: “It was good! I put a candle on top of a red velvet cupcake, and I was trying to show her how to blow it out.”

He added: “It’s not easy going through such a big change. One of the toughest things is not seeing Aven every morning. That was our time together, I would wake up in the morning and play music for her.”

When Badgley, 22, enrolled for acting classes, he also took on after-school classes to get his high school certificate quickly – all so he would not have to be tutored on movie sets like other child stars.

He explained: “I graduated when I was 13. It was really just to avoid the on-set tutor thing. I was taking community college courses when I wasn’t working so I’d spend six months working and six months going to school, on and off.”

Badgley’s game plan paid off. He was signed up for an episode of Will & Grace when he was just 12 and, a year later, landed an appearance on the long-running soap The Young and the Restless.

He was awarded a place at elite private school the University of Southern California, but turned it down. “I was accepted at USC but I never went. I was working as well and I realised at that point I didn’t want to go to film school, I just really wanted to work and do what I was doing.”

Heavily pregnant Kelly Rutherford and her estranged husband Daniel Giersch have spoken for the first time about her hiring a private investigator to snoop on him while he was taking care of their toddler son.

The former couple, who have a two-year-old son Hermes, spoke out as they arrived at court in Santa Monica for the latest hearing in their bitter divorce and custody battle.

Gossip Girl star Kelly told how she turned to the P.I. after Giersch allegedly ignored her concerns Hermes could fall into the swimming pool at his home.

She said: “I just was over there and I saw the pool was uncovered.

“We just asked him to cover it because it was a concern, and he sort of ignored it.

“I just wanted to make sure my son was OK. I just did it for a few days to make sure he was OK. I can’t sleep at night if I’m up thinking about it. You know the things moms think about.”

Asked why she wanted the court to stop Giersch potty-training Hermes, she said: “I didn’t ask him to stop. I just wanted us to come together, communicate and find a way to do it together as parents. It’s kind of confusing for a little guy, you know.”

Giersch said of the private investigator: “I’m German. It’s a little bit different culture. Wow!

“How would you feel if you would know there were remote cameras on your property and people were watching whatever you do?

“You go to the bathroom, or anything else. It’s a new feeling. I have never experienced anything like this before.”

Kelly is due to give birth to a daughter in about two weeks.
