Ashlee Simpson has vowed never to go off the rails.

The singer - who recently announced her engagement to Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz - won’t follow in the footsteps of troubled stars Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan because she is in control of her life.

She said: “I don’t see myself ever following the path those girls take. I’m almost 24. I’m pretty together and I’m getting married. I wouldn’t ever let myself get that way and I don’t surround myself with yes-people. I think that’s the most important thing.  People don’t control me or anything I do and I’ve never had that problem.”

Ashlee - whose older sister is pop singer Jessica - says her relationship with Pete helps keep her grounded. She added: “Pete is my support system. We definitely give honest opinions of each other. I love his music and he’s so supportive of everything I do.”

Meanwhile, Ashlee has revealed she loved working with producer Timbaland on her new single ‘Outta My Head (Ay Ay Ay)’.

She said: “It was so cool to work with Timbaland but it was important for the end result not to sound like one of his tracks. He really got me and who I am as a person, so the music still has this rock element going on, but with an 80s sound. I’d never worked with anyone who’d done beats. But I was like, ‘Ah, I really like this world.’ And who better to go to than Timbaland. It was random but a very cool collaboration.”

The love for Tony Romo is just spreading all over the Simpson clan – extended family included. Jessica Simpson may need to keep an eye on her little sister. Us is reporting that Ashlee says that the Dallas Cowboys quarterback, her older sister’s latest boy toy, is “really cool” and that she “loves him”. The ever face-changing pop tart was gushing about the way Tony makes Jessica “absolutely happy”. And the love doesn’t stop with just the Simpsons. Ashlee’s boyfriend Pete Wentz apparently has a man crush on the Cowboy when he called him a “cool dude”. What a way to man up Pete.
