Angry Mel Gibson is fighting back over the damning leaked tapes – insisting that they have been tampered with to make him look bad.

Mel’s lawyers will try to prove that the tapes his ex Oksana Grigorieva secretly recorded have been edited – making them inadmissible in any court hearings, according to TMZ.

And separate tests by experts also appear to prove that the recordings – showing Mel raging wildly and even making apparent violent threats – are not all as they seem.

“I have found several things that would raise a red flag as an expert,” said Arlo West, CEO of Creative Forensic Services who worked on high-profile US crimes like the Natalee Holloway case.

“I found gaps, transients and fades – all three of these things would be considered in authenticating the tapes.

“I believe these were professionally done and she had helped.”

The LA County Sheriff’s Department will have to authenticate the tapes before sending the case to the DA’s Office, and that could take time.

TMZ insists that Mel’s legal team is planning to use proof of tampering as a key fighting point in any legal battles between the star and his ex.

Oksana’s attorneys said: “We are not aware of any presentation Gibson’s lawyers are making, but we are not surprised they would make such unfounded claims.”

Troubled actor Mel Gibson was already in therapy because of his “unhealthy” relationship with girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva before the damning tapes were leaked, friends have revealed.

He sought professional help to try to get out of the relationship as smoothly as impossible.

But those hopes exploded in the most spectacular fashion imaginable this week as leaked tapes from February appeared to show him threatening to attack her with a bat, put her “in a f***ing rose garden” – and claim she “deserved” being punched in the face, losing her teeth.

It is exactly the ending Mel feared – and took steps to avoid, according to friends.

“He realised how unhealthy the relationship was and knew that they were in a bad place and he was getting his buttons pushed,” a friend told People magazine, saying the star got therapy.

“He wanted to figure out how to extricate himself from this unhealthy relationship peacefully and calmly. Which is what he did.”

Indeed, the couple’s split around March initially appeared smooth, and in May, the two signed a custody settlement for their eight-month-old daughter, Lucia.

Gibson’s lawyer Stephen Kolodny previously described the deal as “very generous support payments, joint custody and eventually 50/50 custody of Lucia”, while the Russian singer claimed that payments have since dried up.

Dina Lohan has reached her threshold with ex-husband Michael.

Michael aired voicemail tapes of their daughter Lindsay Lohan’s alleged cry for help in what was the last straw for Dina. She said: “The tapes were from a long time ago and for a father to stoop this low is unforgiveable. My ex-husband has been in and out of jail for 10 years. My children and I gave him a chance to get to know them again and he clearly blew that chance!”

Dina is now considering legal action, Lindsay has already indicated she was on the verge of seeking a restraining order against a father she claims is, in a nutshell, estranged.

Dina claimed her daughter should be legally protected from a tape-leaking.

She continued: “I have had a criminal order of protection from the domestic violence sector since 2005. He was not supposed to even be harassing me by phone. My heart is breaking for my children that he could do this. He has no visitation any more and is six months behind in child support. The authorities have been alerted.”

Michael is on a crusade to stop what he alleges is Lindsay’s spiral into dangerous prescription drug addiction.
